TXST Junior Makes Professional Debut with Conspirare

Texas State School of Music Junior Evan Blaché recently made his professional debut as part of the Grammy-award winning vocal ensemble Conspirare during their recent virtual choir concert, Unity: Songs of Invitation. Evan is a Music Studies major studying voice under Dr. Richard Novak and is this season’s Insight Fellow.

Conspirare, under the direction of Texas State School of Music Artist in Residence, Dr. Craig Hella Johnson, began their Insight Fellow program in 2019. The goals of the program include encouraging talented singers from underrepresented populations, creating visibility for career and performance options, assisting young singers in establishing a network of professional relationships, and bestowing insight of professional choral artists in a ‘real world’ preparation and performance setting. For more information on the Insight Fellow program, please visit Conspirare’s website.

Conspirare’s Unity: Songs of Invitation is the ensemble’s first venture into the realm of virtual performance. Through support provided in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department, Texas Commission on the Arts, and National Endowment for the Arts, Unity features Conspirare favorites including selections by Bach, Barber, and Berlin. The program and a video of the performance are both available online.

Congratulations to Evan for being selected to be part of this outstanding ensemble! We look forward to Dr. Johnson’s continued artistic vision with Conspirare!
