Senior Lecturer Richard Hall was the lead composer on the screen dance film “THULE,” a collaborative work between German dancer/choreographer Heike Salzer and Texas State University Dance Professor and video-choreographer Ana Baer. “THULE” was filmed in Iceland. It was recently selected/shown at the following festivals: American Dance Festival’s “Movies by Movers” Online Film Festival, Exchange Choreography Festival in Oklahoma, the Dance Days Chania Festival in Chania, Crete, Greece, International Videodance Festival of Mexico City, The Athens International Digital Festival where it was awarded best short documentary, the 5th Festival International de Videodanza de la Ciudad de Mexico where it was awarded an honorable mention award, V C(H)orta – Festival de Curtas do Faial in Portugal, the InShadow Festival in Lisbon, Portugal, and the Frostbite International Film Festival where it won an award for Best Original Score.
Richard Hall was also commissioned to compose music for the screen dance work “Being Together,” a collaborative work between Texas State University Dance video-choreographer Ana Baer, the Texas State University Merge Dance Company and the Body Shift Collective, an Austin, TX, based dance company specializing in “mixed-ability improvisational dance which provide a welcoming environment that empowers people of all abilities to embrace dancing in their own unique way.” The screen dance work was recently selected/shown at the following festivals/performances: Austin Community College’s Annual Fundraiser, Texas Dance Improvisation Festival at the University of El Paso, TX, Festival Internacional de Cinema de Lleida Visual Art in Lleida, Spain, College of Adaptive Arts in Saratoga, CA, the Rodi Festival in Thessaloniki, Greece, Moving Images Film Festival in Nicosia, Cyprus.
