Ms. Sa Ra Park, a graduate music theory student supervised by Dr. Nico Schüler, won the 2020 Hewitt-Oberdoerffer Award for the Best Student Paper in the American Musicological Society Southwest Chapter for her paper on “Domenico Scarlatti’s Musical Style: His Keyboard Sonata K. 288”. Ms. Park was also invited to be part of a graduate student panel to discuss the topic of “The Next Generation of College Music Professors” at the 2020 College Music Society national conference. At the Fall 2020 Conference of the American Musicological Society Southwest Chapter, Ms. Park presented a research paper on “An Alternative Analytical Approach to the Finale of the Wind Symphony Culloden by Julie Giroux”, which is part of her Master’s thesis. Ms. Park was also the recipient of a conference attendance grant by the Society for Music Theory.
