TXST music faculty Hank Hehmsoth, Russell Scanlon, and former faculty John Mills presented a Charity Benefit jazz performance part of HAAM Day.
The mission of the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians is to provide access to affordable health care for Austin’s low-income, working musicians with a focus on prevention and wellness. Many of Austin’s musicians juggle two jobs on top of music, and still struggle to pay for food and shelter. With no money for health care, issues with teeth, hearing loss, heart health and more get ignored, and become expensive emergencies. HAAM provides care to improve musicians’ health and save lives while preserving their careers and quality of life.
