Dr. Martin McCain has been appointed as the Affiliate Societies Manager for the International Trombone Association. In his new position, McCain will serve as a liaison for the various international trombone societies and will be responsible for building relationships across the globe. He recently traveled to Singapore to help develop mutual beneficial programs between the Trombone Society of Singapore and the ITA.
Mark Cruz served on the faculty of the Narnia Music Festival in Italy this July. Two of his students, Javier Saucedo and Thomas Randolph, participated and spent two weeks in intensive study. They performed solos and guitar ensemble literature as a duo and participated in a trio with a Julliard student. Their performances took place in the beautiful Chiesa di Santa Maria.
Jazz alumnus Kyle Johnson just won the 3rd trombone position with the United States Army Jazz Ambassadors, the premiere jazz ensemble of that service. Kyle also recently completed a master’s degree in Jazz Performance at the Juilliard School.
