Dr. Martin McCain was recently featured in the February 14th addition of Billboard magazine as the Global Music Award’s Emerging Artist. He performed a solo recital in the ECR Concert series on February 8. McCain also served as an exhibitor for Pickett Brass and Michael Rath Trombones at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention as well as conducting the Texas State University Trombone Choir in a stellar Musical Showcase.
McCain also hosted the 5th Annual Texas State Trombone Symposium February 20-22. The event was a huge success. Guest artists included two trombonists from the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, two low brass musicians from the Croatian National Theatre Opera and two faculty members from Michigan State University. The Symposium also had an instrument display from six different trombone manufacturers, in addition to two German instrument makers. McCain received several external grants and sponsorships to host the 2015 Texas State Trombone Symposium.
