Students experience the magic of Scheherazade

October 11 some 100 Texas State “Intro to Fine Arts” students attended the Austin Symphony’s special performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scherherazade. The evening began with a “Beyond the Score” dramatization (created for the Chicago Symphony) of the making of this famous piece.  Actors portrayed the composer and the title character, while the orchestra demonstrated excerpts from the piece. The latter portion of the evening consisted of a full performance of this epic work by the Austin Symphony, conducted by Maestro Peter Bay.

The students’ adventure was organized by music instructors of Intro to Fine Arts, led by Regents Professor Ian Davidson.
